"Hey, why don't you get a bunch of tomatoes, strawberries and peaches and do some canning tomorrow? It can't be that hard, right? Yeah, come on, let's do it."And thus ended the mental conversation I had with myself. Is that crazy? (The canning part, not the conversation with self part). I do canning and it is SO worth it. There is nothing like storing that 'fresh-from-the-garden' flavor and getting to enjoy it in the middle of winter!
It is not so hard. Start slow with simple jam recipes and you will be well on your way in no time.
If you need some good info, check out my blog over at Growing A Greener World. It is a Public Television gardening series, but I write a blog there about canning and preserving the harvest. I'd be happy to answer any of your questions as you get started.
Come on! It's fun!
Thanks for the advice Theresa! I will take a look at your blog for more info.
